Partner With Us

Strengthening partnerships is one of our twelve constitutional objectives, not an afterthought.

Why partner with BREFON

A local partner with reach into households, not just districts

We are an indigenous organisation staffed by people from the Acholi sub-region. We have standing relationships with district local governments, health facilities, Village Health Teams, schools, and cultural and religious leaders.

For an international partner, that means implementation that reaches the households a district-level programme usually misses — and a team that is still present after the funding cycle ends.

Ways to work together

Forms of partnership

Funding partners

Foundations, trusts, bilateral and multilateral donors funding a thematic area or a specific project. We can provide budgets, workplans, a monitoring framework and audited accounts.

Implementing partners

International and national NGOs who need a local implementing partner with established community access and district relationships in Northern Uganda.

Research and academic partners

Universities and research institutions working on mental health, post-conflict recovery, Children Born of War, or community-based care. We can support ethical community entry and fieldwork.

Government and institutional partners

District local governments, health facilities, schools and cultural institutions coordinating service delivery, referrals and community structures.

The process

How a partnership usually starts

  1. An introductory conversation. You tell us what you are trying to achieve; we tell you honestly whether we are the right partner for it.
  2. Documentation and due diligence. We share our registration, policies, accounts and monitoring framework.
  3. A field visit. We would rather you saw the work than read about it. We will take you to the communities.
  4. A written agreement. Scope, budget, reporting schedule and safeguarding obligations, agreed on both sides.
